In Loving Memory of Mayor Jonathon Dunleavy
The "Toys For Tots Train", comes to Butler each year to collect toys for under-privileged children. It stops at The Butler Museum where it is met by hundreds of residents of both the Butler and Bloomingdale community.
After it stops, Santa Claus jumps off of the train along with the Marines travelling with him. The residents give the Marines hundreds if not thousands of toys and they are loaded onto the train and then taken away and distributed along with the toys from all of the other stops.
This year, due to concerns over Covid-19, the Toys for Tots Train is cancelled. The cancelling of this event means that many children will go without this coming Christmas Holiday season.
So we decided to hold a toy drive of our own to benefit the families in Butler & Bloomingdale. It is hard to fathom that so many families in our area are currently struggling, but that number is as high as 250 families and so our goal is to take care of each and every one of them.
You can see what a monumental task this will be!

DETAILS:

The Butler Museum & The Bloomingdale Drug Alliance have partnered with the Borough's of Butler & Bloomingdale to hold a major toy drive to take the place of the annual "Toys for Tots Train", which stops at The Butler Museum every year to collect toys for distribution to families that have fallen on hard times.

The Museum will collect toys at their location every Saturday after Halloween from 10am - 2:00pm. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy and wrapping paper to The Butler Museum during these times.

The Butler Museum will also announce future drop off times via our social media platforms in the coming weeks.
A True Collaborative Effort!
The Butler Museum Toy Drive is truly an effort being supported by a great number of Butler & Bloomingdale organizations and businesses. An effort this large could not be successful without the entire community's support. We welcome the help of all of our area businesses and organizations and seek to recognize them all here!

TOY DRIVE SPONSOR WALL
We would like to take the opportunity to thank our sponsors for always coming through when there is a need in our community that needs to be met head on. Without our community partners, we simply could not successfully carry out our mission! Would you like to join the sponsor wall? Here is what we need in order to carry out the mission.

Hold A Toy Drive

Holding a toy drive in your store or business is a great way to help us in our mission to deliver a great holiday season to many children who's families are less fortunate, but it is also a great way to help your customers to warm the hearts of children and is a heart-warming reflection on your business and it's customers. Please consider doing this, we would be so appreciative. If you are interested you can find more information on our Mini Toy Drive Page.
NOMINATE A FAMILY
Once again, thank you for visiting The Butler & Bloomingdale Holiday Toy Drive for 2020. We know that many people and families in our own back yard are suffering due to the massive economic impact that Covid-19 is having on us all.
Although the toy drive has kicked off and we have been actively collecting gifts, it has been somewhat of a challenge to identify families in need because it is often such a prideful situation that no one is ever comfortable in.
Another way that YOU can help!
We are hoping that you can help us identify a child or family that would benefit from our toy drive. Do you know a child or a family who is in need? Perhaps a family who, due to Covid-19 or other circumstances, might not be able to provide gifts this year for their little ones?
If you do know of a family in need, please fill out the form below to nominate them. You do not have to list your name and you can even list your own family.
The whole idea behind this Toy Drive is to assist the families living in the Triboro Area with help for the holiday season.
None of your information will be shared and it will be treated with the upmost confidentiality.
Please complete the form below today to help us to make sure no local child is forgotten and that we can help to bring to light the true holiday spirit of the season.
Here’s wishing that ALL of our precious children will have happy hearts on Christmas morning!!!!
